Job summary

Prime Data Centers is seeking a Director of Operations Engineering to lead technical strategy, RCA, and reliability for a portfolio of critical facilities. This hands-on leader partners with CFMs and Chief Engineers to raise uptime, improve equipment reliability, and drive standards across sites.

The role requires an engineering backbone with real-time operations experience, managing a team of electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers, and guiding incident response, SOPs, and change control

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years leading teams and managing department operations.
• 8+ years direct engineering experience in critical environments (data centers, hospitals, etc.).
• Experience leading formal RCAs and implementing corrective actions.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, NEC, OSHA and ASHRAE guidance.
• Willingness to travel 10–30% and respond to after-hours incidents.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of operations/reliability engineers across electrical, mechanical, and controls.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation path for CFMs and CEs on complex issues.
• Establish an intake, triage, and response model for site engineering requests.
• Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting during critical events to meet uptime and SLA commitments.
