Job summary

The College of Southern Maryland seeks a Cybersecurity Operations Director to lead the campus‑wide security program within the IMT Division. This role oversees real‑time monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence to protect institutional information assets.

This position blends hands‑on technical work with program management, advancing security maturity and awareness across the College in compliance with NIST CSF, NIST 800‑171, FERPA, GLBA, and PCI‑DSS.

Qualifications

• Five (5)+ years of progressive experience in security operations or SOC management.
• Three (3)+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Experience deploying and managing SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and cloud-security controls.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage 24x7 security monitoring capability.
• Lead incident response, containment, eradication, and recovery processes.
• Oversee vulnerability management, patching, and secure configurations.
• Develop and maintain security policies, SOPs, and runbooks.
• Coordinate risk-based audits, compliance, and reporting.
