Job summary

The College of Southern Maryland seeks a Cybersecurity Operations Director to lead a campus‑wide SOC, overseeing real‑time monitoring, incident response, and threat intelligence. The role blends hands‑on cybersecurity with program management to protect institutional data and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
• Five+ years of progressive experience in security operations, incident response, or SOC management with supervisory experience.
• Proven ability to deploy and manage SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and cloud-security controls.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage 24x7 security monitoring capability.
• Administer SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and log-aggregation platforms.
• Lead incident response as Incident Commander and coordinate containment and recovery.
• Oversee vulnerability management, patching, and secure configurations.
• Align security operations with NIST CSF, NIST 800-171, GLBA, FERPA, PCI-DSS, and state regulations.
• Develop policies, SOPs, and security awareness programs.
• Manage annual security operations budget and governance artifacts.
