Job summary

Zenith Insurance Company in Austin, TX seeks a Senior IT Security Architect to design, implement and optimize our security infrastructure. You will mentor engineers and lead security architecture initiatives across network, IAM, data protection and cloud, aligning with CIS, HIPAA, CCPA and NYDFS.

The role requires 5+ years leading cybersecurity teams, hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR and cloud security, plus a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading a cybersecurity team.
• 5+ years supporting implementations in a hybrid cloud environment.
• 5+ years in Systems or Network engineering (design/management).
• 5+ years of experience with network security products (Firewalls, WAF, Proxy, NAC, VPNs, end user device security).
• Certs like CISSP, CISA, GSEC are a plus.

• Analyze and investigate security alerts, determine scope and impact, and communicate risks and mitigations to stakeholders.

Overview

Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance tuning and recovery of our IT Security infrastructure, posture and supporting infrastructure. Serve as a hands-on technical expert, Sr. Architect and mentor in IT Security.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and manage the performance of a team of IT Security professionals responsible for monitoring, detecting and responding to threats.
• Proven ability to analyze and investigate security alerts, determine the scope and impact of security events, and articulate risks, root causes, and mitigation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Perform hands-on configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of security systems, which may include firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
• Proven ability to lead security architecture initiatives for network security, data protection, identity and access management, and cloud computing.
• Maintain alignment with architecture and compliance frameworks, including CIS, CCPA, HIPAA, and NYDFS.
• Develop, document, implement and report on security architecture policies, standards, and best practices.
• Keep up to date with cybersecurity landscape, emerging threats, evaluating and recommending new technologies
• Document and communicate security architecture decisions and strategies effectively
• Drive deployment of new platforms, technologies and features to meet lifecycle management and business requirements.
• Recognized as a technical expert and a mentor to engineering teams on frameworks, tools and technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in work related field or discipline preferred.

Work Experience

• Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and secure software development lifecycle.
• 5+ years of experience leading a team of cybersecurity professionals
• 5+ years of experience supporting implementations in a hybrid cloud environment
• 5+ years of experience in either Systems (Windows or Linux) or Network engineering including design and management
• 5+ years of experience with network security products including Firewalls, WAF, Proxy, NAC, VPNs and end user device security
• 5+ years of experience with network security in a public cloud environment
• 5+ years of experience with network hardware
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA and GSEC are a plus

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Thorough understanding of Microsoft and/or Linux operating systems including but not limited to deployment, integrations and troubleshooting.
• One or more of the following are required: Networking and/or security centric; Cloud technology; Juniper; and/or Cisco.

Pay, Benefits, And Other Information

The expected salary range for this position is $155,015.99 - $204,039.79. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
