Job summary

Zenith Insurance Company is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain information systems applications across frontend and backend stacks, including Vue/React/Angular and ASP.NET/C#/Java with MS SQL Server or Oracle.

Focus on AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity, plus strong SQL and UI skills with Bootstrap for responsive design. Collaboration with product owners and IT leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training/experience required.
• 3+ years frontend web development (Vue, Angular, or React).
• 3+ years backend web development (ASP.NET, C#, or Java with MS SQL Server/Oracle).
• CSS frameworks (Bootstrap) and responsive design.
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools (Github Copilot, Claude, Codex).
• Experience with stored procedure and database development in MS SQL Server/Oracle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tables, views, stored procedures, and indexes in MS SQL Server.
• Utilize AI assisted development tools to multiply team output and be a champion for their use within the team.
• Develop and maintain automated Word and Excel templates as requested.

Overview

Under general supervision, develops, tests debugs, maintains and documents information systems applications. Performs code walk-throughs, reviews and audits. Executes complete life cycle for simple to moderately complex application components based on design specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tables, views, stored procedures, and indexes in MS SQL Server.
• Utilize AI assisted development tools to multiply team output and be a champion for their use within the team.
• Develop and maintain automated Word and Excel templates as requested. These templates are created by working closely with the client in order to meet (and hopefully exceed) the client's expectations and help improve the company's workflow. Templates usually require VBA and SQL.
• Solve moderately complex problems independently.
• Communicate and document technical aspects of work in a manner that is easily understood and actionable by peers.
• Adequately articulate thoughts/design/idea/specs to IT managers and product owners.
• Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Work productively and harmoniously with others on a consistent basis.
• Respond positively to direction and feedback on performance.
• Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training/experience required

Work Experience

• 3+ years frontend web development (Vue, Angular, or React).
• 3+ years backend web development (ASP.NET, C#, or Java with MS SQL Server/Oracle).
• CSS frameworks (Bootstrap) and responsive design.
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools (Github Copilot, Claude, Codex, etc.) and a believer in using them to multiply team output

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Experience with stored procedure and database development in MS SQL Server/Oracle preferred.
• Experience with AI assisted development tools Github Copilot, Claude preferred.
• Experience with markup and style language processing like HTML, XML, and CSS a plus.
• Experience with front-end libraries and frameworks such as jQuery, Vue, and Bootstrap a plus.
• Experience using Git, SVN or other version control software a plus.
• Preference for Insurance Business domain knowledge in at least 1 area (Policy, Claims, Other).
• Practical understanding/demonstration of Development process and tools.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply advanced features and functions of systems, processes, technology standards and methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player, self-starter, motivated, and multi- task oriented.
• Ability to prioritize work requirements.

Pay, Benefits, And Other Information

The expected salary range for this position is $87,502.48 - $121,081.56. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
