Job summary

Zenith Insurance Company is seeking a Senior IT Security Architect to design, implement, and optimize our security infrastructure. You will lead a hands-on security architecture team, mentor engineers, and guide security decisions aligned with CIS, CCPA, HIPAA, and NYDFS standards.

The role requires 5+ years leading cybersecurity teams, hybrid cloud experience, and strong knowledge of network security and cloud security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a work-related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years leading a cybersecurity team.
• 5+ years supporting hybrid cloud implementations.
• 5+ years in systems (Windows or Linux) or network engineering.
• 5+ years working with network security products (Firewalls, WAF, Proxy, NAC, VPNs).
• 5+ years experience with network security in a public cloud environment.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA or GSEC are a plus.

Overview

Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance tuning and recovery of our IT Security infrastructure, posture and supporting infrastructure. Serve as a hands-on technical expert, Sr. Architect and mentor in IT Security.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and manage the performance of a team of IT Security professionals responsible for monitoring, detecting and responding to threats.
• Proven ability to analyze and investigate security alerts, determine the scope and impact of security events, and articulate risks, root causes, and mitigation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Perform hands-on configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of security systems, which may include firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
• Proven ability to lead security architecture initiatives for network security, data protection, identity and access management, and cloud computing.
• Maintain alignment with architecture and compliance frameworks, including CIS, CCPA, HIPAA, and NYDFS.
• Develop, document, implement and report on security architecture policies, standards, and best practices.
• Keep up to date with cybersecurity landscape, emerging threats, evaluating and recommending new technologies
• Document and communicate security architecture decisions and strategies effectively
• Drive deployment of new platforms, technologies and features to meet lifecycle management and business requirements.
• Recognized as a technical expert and a mentor to engineering teams on frameworks, tools and technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in work related field or discipline preferred.

Work Experience

• Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and secure software development lifecycle.
• 5+ years of experience leading a team of cybersecurity professionals
• 5+ years of experience supporting implementations in a hybrid cloud environment
• 5+ years of experience in either Systems (Windows or Linux) or Network engineering including design and management
• 5+ years of experience with network security products including Firewalls, WAF, Proxy, NAC, VPNs and end user device security
• 5+ years of experience with network security in a public cloud environment
• 5+ years of experience with network hardware
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA and GSEC are a plus

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Thorough understanding of Microsoft and/or Linux operating systems including but not limited to deployment, integrations and troubleshooting.
• One or more of the following are required: Networking and/or security centric; Cloud technology; Juniper; and/or Cisco.

Pay, Benefits, And Other Information

The expected salary range for this position is $155,015.99 - $204,039.79. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
