Summary of Job Duties:

This in-office position reports to the departmental Senior Director and manages daily operations of SBO Collections, SBO Customer Service, and CUMG Customer Service/Collections, including hospital and physician billing and balances.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Healthcare Admin + 5 years' experience in hospital patient accounting, collections, or customer service, including 5 years of management/supervisory experience, OR
  • 9 years' experience in hospital patient accounting, collections, or customer service, including 5 years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to identify and implement workflow or technological improvements.
  • Strong staff motivation and personnel management skills.
Additional Information:
  • Supervises staff, including hiring, disciplinary actions, evaluations, and quality reviews.
  • Reviews weekly timekeeping, participates in training, and ensures policy compliance.
  • Provides training on Epic system upgrades and process changes.
  • Manages DFA processes and addresses patient complaints collaboratively with other departments.
  • Optimizes collections and customer service processes within legal and compliance guidelines.
  • Participates in vendor selection, testing, and implementation processes.
  • Adheres to patient-centered care principles and professional standards.
  • Motivates staff and serves as a role model.
  • Works with collection agencies, updates policies, and ensures legal compliance.
  • Supervises annual DFA processes and handles patient complaints.
  • Ensures HIPAA compliance and proper payment application.
  • Maintains oversight of collections and customer service across multiple units.
  • Remains informed of regulatory and procedural changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
