Job summary

NC State University’s Crafts Center seeks a visionary Director to lead one of the nation’s largest university crafts programs in Raleigh. The Director reports to the Associate Dean & Executive Director of Arts NC State and guides strategic planning, program development, and staff leadership across studios.

Minimum qualifications include MFA or terminal degree and at least five years in arts leadership; the role requires evening/weekend availability, strong collaboration, and commitment to

Qualifications

Master of Fine Arts or other terminal degree in a related area.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in the arts.
Familiarity with crafts areas represented in the Crafts Center.
Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Crafts Center to realize a new vision.
Lead staff and instructors; coordinate scheduling and engagement across studios.
Oversee budget, assessment, reporting, and administrative operations.
Ensure safety, facilities maintenance, and compliance across spaces.
Represent Arts NC State at university/community events and partnerships.
