Job Description

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve with unprecedented scientific innovation, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) is seeking a Director of Corporate Partnerships to lead strategic engagement with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, and related healthcare organizations. This individual will cultivate executive-level relationships with industry partners and identify opportunities to advance ACC’s mission through collaborative initiatives spanning clinician education, scientific exchange, implementation science, quality improvement, real-world evidence, market intelligence, patient engagement, digital innovation, and global cardiovascular health. The Director will possess a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and life sciences landscape, including drug development, commercialization, medical affairs, clinical research, market access, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and evolving healthcare policy, and proactively advise ACC leadership on emerging therapeutic areas, market trends, and strategic partnership opportunities. Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Relations & Business Strategy, this individual will collaborate across ACC business units to develop innovative partnership strategies that create value for both ACC and industry while advancing cardiovascular science, improving patient outcomes, and supporting sustainable organizational growth.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Innovation

• Partner with ACC leadership and business line leaders to identify strategic opportunities aligned with emerging therapeutic areas, scientific priorities, and industry needs.
• Lead development of innovative partnership concepts leveraging ACC's clinical expertise, scientific credibility, educational capabilities, quality improvement programs, registry and data assets, and convening power.
• Serve as executive relationship lead for a portfolio of strategic pharmaceutical and life sciences partners, providing consultative guidance from opportunity identification through execution.

Business Skills and Organization

• Develop and manage executive relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, and healthcare organizations.
• Build and manage a strategic portfolio of corporate partnerships focused on long-term growth, partner retention, and new business development.
• Develop deep knowledge of ACC capabilities across Education, Innovation, Science & Quality, Clinical Policy & Pathways, Scientific Publications, NCDR, Data & Analytics, Market Intelligence, Patient Education, Global Health.
• Lead development of complex partnership proposals, business cases, budgets, revenue projections, contracts, and multi-year collaboration strategies.
• Identify enterprise-wide partnership opportunities that address partner priorities across the product lifecycle while supporting ACC strategic objectives.

Communication and Collaboration

• Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and collaborate across ACC business units to design integrated partnership solutions that maximize organizational value and partner impact.
• Deliver compelling executive presentations and facilitate strategic discussions with C-suite leaders and cross-functional industry teams.
• Clearly articulate ACC's unique value as the leading cardiovascular professional society and differentiate its scientific, educational, clinical, quality improvement, and data capabilities.
• Ensure partnerships comply with ACC policies and applicable industry standards, including ACCME, PhRMA, AdvaMed, FDA guidance, and other relevant compliance requirements.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, or related field) preferred.
• 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare consulting, medical society, or related healthcare business development. Background in medical/clinical, science or health sciences preferred.
• Demonstrated success developing and managing strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical commercialization, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, HEOR, and healthcare delivery.
• Proven ability to build executive relationships and influence senior internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated success leading complex, enterprise-level business development opportunities from concept through execution.
• Outstanding strategic thinking, negotiation, proposal development, presentation, and executive communication skills.
• Experience working in highly matrixed organizations and consistently meeting or exceeding revenue and partnership objectives.
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including participation in major cardiovascular and life sciences meetings and events at ACC Heart House.
