CLEAR is building the secure identity platform of the future. We are seeking a collaborative, strategic Director of Engineering to lead multiple teams responsible for CLEAR's consumer experiences across mobile app, website, enrollment experiences, marketing tech, and Concierge platform.

You will partner with Product, Design, Marketing, and business leaders to move quickly while maintaining quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 6+ years leading engineering teams and 3+ years managing engineering managers.
• Proven track record building and scaling consumer-facing digital products across mobile and web.
• Strong background in designing scalable distributed systems and modern cloud-native applications.
• Experience partnering with Product, Design, Marketing, and Analytics to deliver customer-centric outcomes.
• Demonstrated success creating high-performing engineering organizations balancing speed, quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Deep understanding of experimentation, analytics, and data-informed product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow multiple engineering teams responsible for CLEAR's consumer experiences across mobile, web, marketing technology, and Concierge products.
• Define and execute the technical strategy for customer-facing applications, ensuring scalable, reliable, and performant experiences.
• Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, and Business stakeholders to prioritize roadmaps improving acquisition, conversion, engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
• Drive engineering excellence by establishing best practices around architecture, delivery, quality, observability, and performance.
• Build collaborative relationships to rapidly deliver value through experimentation and iteration.
• Champion modern engineering practices while maintaining reliability, security, and quality.
• Develop engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering ownership, innovation, and accountability.
• Use data and customer insights to inform investments and improve the digital member experience.
