Job summary

Gray, a global engineering and construction leader, is seeking a Director of Business Development for NexGen Contracting in Franklin, TN. You will shape the business development strategy, build high-value client relationships, and manage the opportunity pipeline across construction sectors.

You’ll partner with operations, preconstruction, finance, and talent to pursue opportunities, develop proposals, and hand off to project teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, construction management, engineering, or a related field (5+ years preferred).
Proven track record developing customer relationships and securing profitable construction work.
Knowledge of construction delivery methods, estimating, and project execution.
Ability to interpret forecasts, financial data, and market data.
Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Experience with disciplined CRM and opportunity reporting.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a business development plan aligned with enterprise priorities and growth objectives.
Establish and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, developers, and strategic partners.
Evaluate opportunities for strategic fit, pricing, and delivery requirements; coordinate bid/no-bid decisions.
Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline with scope, value, stage, and timing; lead pursuit efforts.
Coordinate pricing strategy with Finance and Operations; route commitments through approvals.
Share anticipated opportunities with Preconstruction and Talent for capacity planning.
Ensure handed-off projects meet customer expectations and scope commitments.
Monitor market intelligence and adjust pursuit priorities.
