Job summary

Silicon Data is seeking a Director of Derivatives & OTC Markets to own the derivatives business end to end, defining tradeable index expressions and managing commercial relationships. You will originate with dealers, funds, and infrastructure traders, negotiating licenses and building credibility in a nascent market.

The role reports to the Founder/CEO, requiring comfort with ambiguity and a focus on market-building rather than trading. Independence and governance are central to the role.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in derivatives — structuring, product development, sales, origination, or index/benchmark commercialization — at a dealer, exchange, index provider, IDB, trading firm, or commodity trading house.
• Direct, hands-on experience with OTC products: block trades, swaps, forwards, and the negotiation and documentation that surrounds them.
• Working fluency with ISDA architecture — Master Agreements, Schedules, CSAs, definitional booklets, and confirmations.
• Genuine understanding of settlement mechanics for index-referenced products: fixing, averaging windows, price source reliability, and contract risk mitigation.
• A demonstrated origination record turning conversations into trades and counterparty relationships.
• Comfort in a small, fast-moving, early-stage environment with autonomy.
• Excellent written communication for term sheets and methodology notes.

Responsibilities

• Define the tradeable expression of our indices — settlement methodology, fixing/averaging conventions, tenors, roll/expiry mechanics, price sources, and disruption fallbacks.
• Build the confirmation templates, definitional annexes, and index-licensing terms with outside counsel and internal teams.
• Originate across the counterparty map and own the pipeline from first conversation to signed license to executed trade.
• Lead the index licensing program for trading use, including scope, term, renewal, and onboarding path for new counterparties.
• Develop liquidity by identifying natural longs/shorts and cultivating market-maker and broker relationships.
• Collaborate with CME Group and other partners on listed products and the on-ramp from bilateral to cleared exposure.
• Feed market needs into data science, product, and methodology teams to shape the roadmap.
• Represent Silicon Data credibly with trading desks and at industry events.
