Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is seeking a Director, Valuation Services – Complex Financial Instruments in the Los Angeles area. You will lead a skilled team valuing equity compensation, complex capital structures, earnouts, convertible debt, and other assets and liabilities.

You will manage projects, determine methodologies, and serve as the primary client contact. You will oversee financial analysis, develop narrative reports, and present conclusions to clients, while coaching Associates and Senior

Qualifications

7+ years of valuations and modeling experience at a Big 4, investment bank, or independent valuation firm.
Experience conducting financial analyses and modeling for complex financial instruments and securities.
Strong educational background in Finance, Quantitative Finance, Economics, or Mathematics.
Advanced knowledge of financial statements and valuation methodologies (Monte Carlo, lattice models, statistical analysis).
Demonstrated client relationship management skills.
Project team management experience.
Proficiency with Octave, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
Experience with Capital IQ.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong writing and presentation skills (PowerPoint, Word).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Effective project management and organizational skills.
Ambitious, results-driven, self-starter in a collaborative culture.
Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

End-to-end project management and execution of valuation projects (planning, resourcing, organizing, reviewing).
Oversee financial analysis on valuation of complex securities and instruments.
Develop narrative reports describing methodologies, key assumptions, rationale and findings.
Lead, train, and manage Senior Associates and Associates.
Act as client contact on valuation engagements for clients and staff.
Determine methodologies and due diligence approaches with MDs and Senior Directors.
Present and communicate valuation conclusions with clients.
Lead client meetings and due diligence calls.
Coach and provide feedback to develop Senior Associates and Associates.
Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
Collaborate with MDs on practice management and business development.
