Job summary

Falcons Landing is seeking an experienced Director of Community Life to join the Senior Leadership Team and provide strategic leadership across Wellness, Social Work, Recreation, Fitness, Transportation, Chaplaincy, and contracted resident services.

The role emphasizes resident-centered programs, collaborative leadership, and budget management to enhance quality of life for 430+ independent living residents in a Northern Virginia Life Plan community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in related field.
• 5+ years of progressive management or leadership experience, preferably in senior living or healthcare.
• Experience leading multiple programs, departments, or service areas.
• Proven ability to develop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgets.
• Strong understanding of resident-centered services and older adult needs.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to build trust with residents, families, employees, and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and strategic direction for the Community Life Department.
• Serve on Falcons Landing Senior Leadership Team and contribute to organization-wide planning.
• Develop programs to enhance resident engagement, wellness, satisfaction, and life quality.
• Collaborate with executives and department leaders to align initiatives with strategic priorities.
• Identify resident needs and develop innovative approaches to meet them.
• Oversee Wellness Services, Recreation, Social Work, Fitness & Aquatics, Transportation, and Chaplaincy.
• Manage contracted resident services (salon, massage).
• Lead and coach department leaders, establish goals, policies, and procedures.
• Promote collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and exceptional resident services.
• Champion resident-centered services across activities, wellness, and daily operations.
• Oversee calendars of activities, wellness initiatives, transportation, and related services.
• Support resident communication via Resident Portal and other platforms.
• Oversee Resident Satisfaction Survey and use feedback for improvements.
• Guide transitions, bereavement services, and social-emotional well-being.
• Develop and manage department budgets and participate in capital planning.
