Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Director of Commercial (SAS Phase 2) in New York to lead the commercial management of the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 program. This role oversees contracts, risk, and strategic commercial decisions for a multi-disciplinary delivery team.

The position requires a 10+ year track record in large-scale projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, and a strong background in cost control, procurement, and contract management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years in a management or supervisory role.
• Professional engineer or registered architect desirable; PMI-PBA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations for policy and procedural changes with final approval from management.
• Provide input into overall strategy and approach with senior management.
• Provide high-level commercial direction and support to the project delivery team.
• Actively manages commercial risk with the Owner’s Commercial Managers.
• Represent the Agency Owner to external entities and ensure contract compliance.
• Communicate with contractors and suppliers on outstanding issues.
• Maintain consistency across project teams’ commercial processes and align with client requirements.
• Oversee the project commercial teams and ensure professional, legal, and ethical delivery.
• Develop and implement commercial audit processes and exceed benchmarks.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and comprehensive financial analyses for leadership.
