Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York is seeking a Director, Claims & Investigations to lead the Claims Bureau, oversee administration, accident investigation, and third-party administration for the MTA. This senior role requires extensive insurance, litigation, and vendor oversight experience, with a focus on fiduciary compliance and strategic leadership.

Qualifications

At least 10 years related experience with 4+ years in a leadership role.
New York State Independent Casualty Adjuster’s license required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
Experience in railroad or transportation claims preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversight & Management of Claims Bureau Operations, including administration, investigation, data development and settlements.
Claims Intake, Assignment & Evaluation, including reserving and insurance coordination.
Settlement Authority & Negotiations with employees, non-employees, and third parties within fiduciary limits.
Compliance, Auditing & Contractual Obligations, including third‑party administrator responsibilities.
Litigation Staff Management & Vendor Oversight, including supervision of staffing and external partners.
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement to ensure fiduciary compliance and program success.
