Job summary

United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut Inc. is seeking a Director of Child Care Initiatives to lead Cora's Kids Family Child Care Network's programs, budget, staff, and partnerships.

The role combines deep knowledge of Connecticut's early childhood system with hands-on budgeting and project management. The Director will supervise the coaching team, manage grant-funded budgets, and serve as the primary liaison with funders, partner organizations, and state agencies, ensuring fiscal health

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Connecticut's early childhood system (OEC regulations, funding streams, licensing).
• Demonstrated budget management experience, including multi-source or grant-funded budgets.
• Demonstrated project management experience across multiple workstreams and timelines.
• Substantive knowledge of family child care/home-based care.
• Strong external stakeholder relationship management with funders, partners, and providers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; comfortable with public speaking.

Responsibilities

• Own the program's operating budget across all funding sources, including planning, tracking, and reporting.
• Manage grant-funded budgets with compliance accountability from award through final reporting.
• Plan and sequence the network's initiatives across the fiscal year with funders, partners, and internal staff.
• Oversee the network's tiered service model end to end (licensing support, group learning, accreditation coaching) ensuring on-schedule delivery within budget.
• Hire and manage program staff and foster a collaborative team culture aligned with the mission and values.
• Set performance benchmarks and accountability structures for program outcomes.
