Job summary

Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore seeks a Director of Recreation and Wellness to oversee all full-time administrators and staff of the department and part-time student employees, coaches and instructors for fitness, outdoor, aquatics, intramurals and club sports and all recreation facilities. Develop and manage the Department and Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC) budgets.

Master's degree required; 6+ years related experience with supervisory responsibilities.

• Knowledge of budgeting and financial planning.
• Experience in supervising staff and student employees.
• Familiarity with recreational facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all full-time administrators and staff of the department and part-time student employees, coaches and instructors for fitness, outdoor, aquatics, intramurals and club sports and all recreation facilities.
• Develop and manage the Department and Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC) budgets.
• Set operational standards for all recreational facilities and programs to ensure operational and financial effectiveness.
• Evaluate workload, priorities and activity schedules to determine staffing requirements for events, programs and the FAC.
• Hire, schedule and evaluate administrator and staff performance, conducting performance appraisals and reviews on a regular schedule and more often when needed.
• Evaluate daily operational procedures and policies to ensure an efficient, safe and secure environment for FAC users.
• Analyze customer complaints and ensure high quality service.
• Coordinate policy and procedures for the FAC including memberships, services and staff.
• Coordinate maintenance of the FAC with Facilities.
• Establish hours of operation and ensure coverage.
• Participate in professional associations and development activities.
