Job summary

New York Public Radio seeks a Director of Board Relations to support governance and board operations. You will report to the Chief of Staff and partner with the CEO, Board Chair, and directors to ensure disciplined, strategic board work aligned with NYPR’s mission.

The role requires senior governance judgment, outstanding writing, and the ability to manage sensitive priorities with discretion in a fast-paced environment. Strong collaboration with executives is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five or more years of experience supporting boards or governance functions.
  • Experience in nonprofit, cultural, media, or mission-driven orgs preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee coordination of Board of Directors and committee activities.
  • Develop board books, minutes, and related documentation with accuracy.
  • Maintain governance records and bylaws, ensuring alignment with priorities.
  • Track actions and deliverables for accountability and timely execution.
  • Support board onboarding and ongoing education.
