Job summary

Lilly's Bioproduct Research and Development (BR&D) team seeks a Director to provide technical leadership for biologics drug substance manufacturing at CDMOs, with emphasis on downstream purification and post-conjugation processes. The role blends technical oversight with cross‑functional collaboration to accelerate projects while preserving quality.

You will streamline tech transfer, develop digital tools for faster data and document review, and, when needed, serve as PCTL for external programs.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or Biochemical Engineering with 8+ years of pharma experience.
• Deep knowledge of biologics drug substance process development, including downstream purification.
• Hands-on experience working with CDMOs and leading technology transfer to GMP manufacturing.
• Strong track record of improving process performance or introducing new technology in biologics CMC.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for biologics drug substance manufacturing at CDMOs, including purification development and GMP execution.
• Identify the technical agenda and drive process improvements from testing to implementation.
• Support business development with CMC input during due diligence.
• Streamline tech transfer with milestones, gates, and risk management.
• Develop digital tools and best practices to speed data review while maintaining quality.
• Apply operational excellence methods for continuous improvement.
• Serve as PCTL for external projects, overseeing cross-functional CMC activities.
• Contribute to CMC sections of regulatory filings.
