Job summary

Atoms is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to work with senior hardware engineers on expanding autonomous transport platforms. You’ll design, test, and integrate real-world hardware solutions for next-generation, on-road autonomous vehicles, gaining hands-on PCB design, validation, and system integration experience.

This onsite role is based in San Francisco with Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 program dates.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
• Hands-on PCB design with Altium, KiCad, or Eagle.
• Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers).
• Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART protocols.
• Proactive problem solver in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• PCB & Carrier Board Design: Design and revision of boards for vehicle compute and sensors.
• Vehicle & Protocol Integration: Analyze and debug CAN/Ethernet on test platforms.
• Hardware Validation & Testing: Create tests and fixtures to validate designs.
• Fleet Support: Collaborate with hardware/software teams on bring-up and installations.
