Job summary

The New Canaan Community YMCA, Inc. seeks a Director of Athletic Operations to lead and grow its youth and adult athletic programs, leagues, clinics and tournaments.

You will supervise the Basketball and League Operations Manager and the Assistant Director of Programs, while maintaining safety and high program quality. You will develop new movement-based offerings, manage budgets, recruit/train staff and volunteers, and partner with Camp Directors and community groups to deliver engaging sports

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in sports management.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification within first 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of the Manager of Basketball and League Operations and the Assistant Director of Programs.
• Oversee development of youth and adult athletic programs, leagues, clinics and tournaments.
• Create new court and field-based classes and league opportunities with support from staff.
• Develop and maintain departmental budget and manage staff including volunteers.
• Ensure safety, risk management, and positive participant experiences in all venues.
• Collaborate with Camp Directors and community partners on events and programs.
