Job summary

YMCA of Greenwich seeks an Athletic and Youth Program Director to build and lead its aquatic and youth programming portfolio. This leadership role partners with head coaches to set standards, grow teams, and guide athletes toward clear, supported paths from swim lessons to competitive pathways.

You will oversee swim school operations and youth programming, manage budgets, and collaborate with community partners to expand access and impact across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sports management, recreation, physical education, nonprofit management, or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in aquatics, youth sports, or recreation program leadership.
• Strong budgeting and revenue growth experience.
• Knowledge of youth development principles and structured curricula.
• Experience with competitive sports coaching staff and partnerships.
• Excellent communication with participants, families, staff, and leadership.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (current).
• Familiarity with USA Swimming, US Diving, or USA Water Polo governance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead athletic and youth program portfolio, including swim, dive, and water polo.
• Partner with head coaches to set goals and development standards.
• Build systems for scheduling, communication with families, and athlete recognition.
• Ensure programs are properly resourced and aligned with mission.
• Develop inclusive programming and adaptive opportunities.
• Oversee youth extracurricular programming and partnerships.
• Maintain safety and risk management across all programs.
