Qualifications

Job Summary

Analyzes existing and proposed athletics and institutional policies, assists in the implementation of relevant procedures; analyzes NCAA legislation and campus policies to identify problem areas and potential noncompliance; recommends changes to enhance compliance with institutional and athletic policies.

• Analyzes and applies NCAA, Conference USA, and campus regulations in a consistent and uniform manner.
• Assists with determining eligibility status for all prospective, continuing and re-entering student-athletes on basis of review and verification of documentation of admissions, academic and athletic records. Analyzes NCAA Initial Eligibility, Amateurism certifications and international forms as well as student-athlete compliance forms. In collaboration with the Office of the Registrar, Academic units, Student-Athlete Academic Center (SAAC), the NCAA and the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), identifies potential problems and violations. Conducts eligibility checks to monitor changes in eligibility status, issues eligibility reports to athletics and SAAC staff.
• Makes recommendations for policies and procedures. Maintains unit's computing database on student-athletes including providing data on student-athletes to liaison units or outside agencies upon request; inputs and maintains student-athlete information and athletics eligibility information in the NCAA Compliance Assistant internet (CAI) and or Teamworks Elite. Consults with the Division of Information Technology's programmers on system development and enhancements to meet compliance with NCAA legislation.
• Analyzes existing and proposed athletics and institutional policies. Assists in the implementation of relevant procedures. Analyzes NCAA legislation and campus policies to identify problem areas and potential noncompliance; recommends changes to enhance compliance with institutional and athletic policies.
• Acts as a liaison with campus constituencies to create PeopleSoft queries to be used by unit; coordinates Athletic Participation Coding of all Student-Athletes in PeopleSoft; coordinate athletic holds process to monitor/limit student-athlete enrollment.
• Provides administrative support to the unit as needed; provides thorough and careful attention to detail in the review and maintenance of documents; maintains accurate records and organized files; assures records are readily available to the unit and other University units supporting the athletic compliance function and processes.
• Acts as a liaison with campus constituencies: establishing effective working relationships with the Athletic Department, SAAC, Offices of Undergraduate Studies, Admissions, the Registrar, on campus counselors and other related units.
• Maintains, prepares and disseminates official sport rosters; assures records are readily available to unit.
• Provides direct support to the Associate Director Athletic Compliance and, when directed, serves as alternate athletics compliance point person.
• Works collaboratively with other compliance staff and appropriate offices to facilitate and promote the Athletics Compliance Program. Serves as primary contact for NCAA Eligibility Center, All issues regarding NCAA Bylaws 12, 14, 16.
• Works as a member of one or more work groups, as assigned, in order to support the Athletics Compliance Program and function.
• Adhere to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Assistant Director, Intercollegiate Athletics. Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Assoc. Director of Athletics Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed by supervisor. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
• Assists with the collection and input of data for Academic Progress Rate, Graduation Success Rate, and NCAA Sports Sponsorship & Demographics report and develops other academic reports as necessary.
• Assist Assoc. Director of Athletics Compliance with all aspects of institution's Name, Image, and Likeness program. Including scheduling and developing team workshops, presentations, and additional meetings. Assists with institutional adherence to state of Florida and NCAA regulations by ensuring deadlines are being met and timelines are followed. Communicate with teams and coaches regarding updates with NIL legislation.
• Responsible for creating, researching, and submitting all student-athlete waivers such as Student-Athlete Reinstatement, Progress Toward Degree, Initial Eligibility, and Legislative Relief. Assists Assoc. Director of Athletics Compliance with NCAA reporting, waivers, violations, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and seven (7) years of appropriate experience or Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five (5) years of appropriate experience.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous experience working in athletics compliance.
• Experience with NCAA Compliance Assistant internet (CAi)
