Job summary

IPSY is seeking a Director, Assistant General Counsel to lead a broad legal portfolio including intellectual property, privacy, consumer protection, marketing, and commercial contracts. You will shape our legal infrastructure, collaborate with executives, and ensure rapid yet compliant decision-making across marketing, technology, and product teams.

The role requires a J.D. with 10+ years’ experience, strong business partner mindset, and proven ability to manage outside counsel.

Qualifications

• JD degree and active bar membership in good standing.
• 10+ years of legal experience with a mix of law firm and in-house roles.
• Deep knowledge of consumer protection law, advertising and marketing regulations, and subscription commerce.
• Experience managing outside counsel and legal spend.
• Proven ability to partner with business teams and provide practical, actionable advice.

Responsibilities

• Own the legal review of marketing and promotional content for compliance.
• Advise on subscription commerce law and FTC/state auto-renew regulations.
• Lead influencer program contracts and compliance playbooks.
• Manage IP matters including trademark protection and licensing.
• Guide privacy compliance across the consumer lifecycle and data flows.
• Provide governance for AI initiatives and regulatory changes.
• Support IPSY Mexico with local regulatory requirements and contracts.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts.
• Oversee outside counsel relationships and legal budget.
