Job summary

Moody's Investors Service is seeking a Chief Counsel, IP, Trust & Cyber to lead the global IP, privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance function. The role entails shaping enterprise strategy, advising on licensing and data assets, and partnering with product, risk, and procurement teams to protect Moody’s IP and data assets.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in IP/tech law, strong privacy and data protection experience, and a proven track record leading large, global legal teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of combined experience in IP/tech law at leading law firms and/or in-house counsels.
• Deep expertise in IP strategy including patents, copyrights, database rights, and trade secrets.
• Significant privacy and data protection law experience (GDPR/CCPA) in a global context.
• Demonstrated experience advising on cybersecurity legal issues and incident response.
• Proven leadership of enterprise-level, globally distributed legal teams.
• Experience with AI governance, responsible AI frameworks, and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide IP strategy, protection, monetization, and enforcement of Moody's IP estate.
• Govern and protect Moody's proprietary data assets and licensing structures.
• Oversee IP portfolio management and defense of third-party IP claims.
• Advise on IP aspects of product development, licensing, and M&A.
• Serve as senior legal advisor on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance across jurisdictions.
