Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Director of Analytics Systems to lead a team of six to ten engineers, shaping analytics products for life sciences and diagnostics, and guiding internal tooling and data pipelines in a regulated medical-device context.

You will drive a forward-looking roadmap, integrate foundation models into core analytical pipelines, and align stakeholders across product, data science, and engineering to deliver impact on real-world data and biomarker discovery.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of management experience leading analytics engineering teams in a regulated context.
• Experience with analytics data modeling, pipelines, and BI tooling.
• Background in medical devices, clinical diagnostics, or related regulated fields.
• Ability to navigate agile development with strict design controls in regulated environments.

Role overview

The Director, Analytics Systems leads a team of six to ten engineers responsible for the analytics products that serve life sciences and diagnostics customers, as well as the internal tooling and pipelines used by scientists working with clinical trial data. The role combines people management, technical leadership, and product direction, with responsibility for evolving a centralized feature store and integrating foundation models into core analytical pipelines. The position reports to the VP of Analytics and Machine Learning and operates within a regulated medical-device context.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coach engineers and, over time, additional managers, helping them grow impact and overcome challenges.
• Set and continuously raise the bar for engineering quality, productivity, and accountability across the team.
• Scope and prioritize week-to-week work in alignment with broader strategic initiatives, coordinating with peer teams and domains.
• Maintain an outcome-oriented long‑term roadmap, communicate it clearly across the organization, and own project management for team initiatives.
• Drive product direction and discovery for the Analytics Systems Team, building cross‑functional connections and prioritizing the highest‑impact work.
• Craft and execute a forward‑looking strategic vision for how analytics systems can reshape life sciences project delivery, diagnostic workflows, and biomarker discovery using real‑world data.

Requirements

• 6+ years of management experience leading mid‑to‑large analytics engineering teams, with a track record of process‑driven successes and lessons learned.
• Deep experience across analytics engineering (e.g., dbt, SQLMesh), data modeling and pipelines (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Argo, Airflow), and BI tooling (e.g., Superset, Looker, Tableau).
• Background in medical devices, clinical diagnostics, real‑world data, pharma or biotech, or other adjacent regulated fields.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate the tension between agile development and strict design controls in a regulated environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align partners around decisions, tradeoffs, and evolving plans.
• Track record of anticipating company‑wide needs and tackling them proactively, and of addressing technical debt and bandwidth constraints before they slow teams down.
