Job summary

TCG Labs-Soleil in South San Francisco is seeking an Associate Director/Director, Analytical Characterization to lead analytical and biophysical characterization within the Protein Sciences group of the Biologics Technology team. You will provide strategic direction for developability assessments and method strategy across our biologics portfolio, while leading a bench-based, high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in a related discipline (e.g. biochemistry, biophysics, analytical chemistry) with 8 years’ experience in monoclonal and multispecific antibody characterization in industry setting.
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing direct reports and mentoring scientific teams.
• Proficient in analytical methods including HPLC, CE, SPR, DSF, DSC, SEC-MALS, LC-MS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare developability assessments packages for biologic candidates evaluating stability, solubility, aggregation, PTMs, manufacturability, and risk factors.
• Design, develop, validate, and execute analytical and biophysical methods (LC-MS, chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal/structural assays) for therapeutic proteins and antibodies in preclinical pipeline.
• Lead from the bench and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Serve as analytical lead in due diligence and business development contexts; review data, identify risk, advise decision-makers.
• Manage CROs and external collaborations for method development, validation, tech transfer, and analytical support.
• Evaluate emerging analytical technologies for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and performance; guide adoption to enhance throughput and risk mitigation.
• Mentor and manage a high-performing analytical team; set priorities, ensure training and development.
• Collaborate with CMC to align analytical strategies with formulation and process development.
