Job summary

The Indianapolis Airport Authority is seeking a Director of Construction to lead the Inspection Team and oversee the Work Permit Process, ensuring compliance with permits and all applicable standards. You will coordinate with internal departments, external tenants, regulatory agencies and stakeholders to align projects with policy, safety and schedule while managing budget and staff development.

A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, planning or related field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in architecture, engineering, construction management, planning or related field.
• Minimum ten years of experience in construction related to facilities, roadways and utilities.
• Seven to ten years of experience supervising direct reports.
• Previous knowledge of airport construction – airfield preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work across multiple service areas and coordinate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a construction team of inspectors, testing labs, contract specialists and related personnel within budget and aligned to strategic plan.
• Provide oversight and direction to direct reports.
• Coach, counsel, mentor and develop direct reports, including performance reviews.
• Empower team to achieve company objectives and ensure accountability.
• Ensure construction compliance with building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with internal departments, tenants and external agencies on projects.
• Oversee Work Permit Process and archival of permits.
• Assist in development of five-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and budget planning.
• Provide input to design concepts and capital budgeting best practices.
