Job summary

Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking a Director of Data Foundations & Enablement to lead Schwab’s AI-ready data foundation. You will partner across data, analytics, engineering, architecture, and business teams to make trusted, governed data available for analytics, Copilots, and future agentic AI capabilities.

You will establish data management, governance, metadata, quality, semantic definitions, and ownership practices, and lead the teams responsible for stewarding critical data assets.

Qualifications

• Executive presence and ability to communicate credibly with senior leaders.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake) and governance features.
• Experience building data governance, metadata, lineage, and quality programs.
• Proven ability to lead data governance, stewardship, and data products.
• Strong ability to develop proofs of concept and demonstrate value.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, owners, and engineering teams to implement data consumption strategy for a Snowflake-based platform.
• Define and operationalize data contracts, semantic-layer requirements, and SLAs.
• Design and evolve a governed semantic layer for BI, AI, and future systems.
• Apply data mesh, data fabric, and knowledge graph concepts aligned with enterprise strategy.
• Partner on Snowflake governance, operating model, and cost management.
• Improve metadata accessibility and prepare data estate for governed AI workflows.
• Build proofs of concept showing metadata, lineage, and governance data products.
• Define data ownership model, stewardship, governance council, and data glossary.
• Lead maintenance of Critical Data Elements with end-to-end lineage.
• Enable data consumers and partners through clear standards and cross-functional leadership.
• Lead, develop, and inspire Data Management and Data Governance teams.
• Stay current on analytics and AI tools like Alteryx, Denodo, Cortex, Snowflake Cowork.
