Job summary

CenterWell Senior Primary Care, a Humana company, seeks a Director of Data Science (AI/ML) to lead a technical team focused on developing and validating AI/ML models for healthcare applications, in partnership with product management, IT, and data governance.

You will balance research with production readiness, define roadmaps, mentor data scientists, and ensure models meet privacy and regulatory standards while delivering measurable improvements in patient care and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data science experience with production ML
• 5+ years of management experience including talent development
• Experience partnering with product, engineering and partners
• Experience with MLOps: versioning, experiment tracking, monitoring
• Hands-on experience writing and reviewing production-grade code
• Ability to translate requirements to technical solutions for stakeholders
• Leadership in establishing technical standards and processes
• Willing to work Eastern Time Zone hours

Responsibilities

• Lead development and validation of AI/ML models for business and company-wide use
• Maintain deep technical expertise and apply appropriate AI methods in healthcare
• Promote experimentation and rapid prototyping to validate feasibility
• Balance research with production discipline for maintainability
• Implement enterprise-level model monitoring and performance tracking
• Define the technical vision and roadmap for the data science team
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate priorities into plans
• Provide technical consulting on feasibility and effort estimation
• Communicate model capabilities to non-technical audiences
• Build reusable frameworks and templates to boost productivity
• Engage with clinical and operational partners to ensure real-world applicability
