Job summary

Wayve, a leader in embodied AI, seeks a Director of Application Software, US, to drive the engineering org turning AI and autonomous driving into production-ready vehicle capabilities. This hybrid role anchors in Detroit or Sunnyvale, CA, guiding cross-functional teams across ML, autonomy, and vehicle integration.

You will shape deployment strategies, mentor senior engineers, and partner with automotive customers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions across platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant engineering and leadership experience in autonomous driving, ADAS, or automotive AI.
• Strong understanding of how ML-enabled driving features are developed, validated, and deployed in vehicles.
• Experience delivering features from development to production with ownership across autonomy/ML and vehicle integration lifecycles.
• Production automotive programmes require working knowledge of vehicle systems, embedded platforms, and integration constraints.
• Proven ability to build and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams including senior engineers and managers.
• Excellent technical judgement and communication to align across engineering disciplines and OEM partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the US Application Software organisation, fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.
• Own the application of Wayve’s AI and autonomous driving tech to customer vehicle programmes from definition to production.
• Guide development and delivery of ADAS and autonomous capabilities across ML, autonomy, vehicle systems, and software.
• Bridge core engineering teams and OEM customers with clear requirements and priorities.
• Provide technical and architectural leadership for autonomous driving, ML-enabled systems, and deployment.
• Collaborate with AI, autonomy, product, safety, validation, and systems teams to solve complex challenges.
• Turn learning from customer programmes into reusable components and practices for future deployments.
• Build trusted relationships with senior engineering stakeholders in automotive partnerships.
