Job summary

The Director, AI Foundations Engineer at Novartis leads engineering strategy, delivery, and operations for the agentic AI operating system. Based remotely in the U.S., you will guide architecture, standards, and cross-functional teams to build scalable AI services that enable intelligent workflows and measurable business value.

You'll partner with product, data, security, and infrastructure teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise goals, supervise engineers, and drive modernization,

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of AI engineering experience leading strategy and delivery.
• Experience translating business needs into scalable AI products.
• Strong cross-functional leadership across engineering, data science, design and commercial.
• Excellent communication and strategic planning skills.
• Experience coaching product managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and ongoing improvement of the AI foundations platform.
• Define and implement scalable engineering standards and practices.
• Partner with product, data, infrastructure, security, and business teams.
• Oversee teams building reusable platform services and components.
• Drive modernization and integration with existing systems.
• Monitor operations and user feedback for continuous optimization.
• Establish operating models and governance for delivery of AI capabilities.
• Communicate priorities, progress, risks, and investments to senior leaders.
