Job summary

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation in the United States seeks a Director, AI Foundations Engineer to lead the engineering strategy, delivery, and operations for the agentic AI foundation. You will guide architecture, development, and continuous improvement to enable scalable, secure, and high-performing AI services.

Work with product, data, infrastructure, security, and business teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise priorities, oversee platform services, and drive modernization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required; advanced degree preferred in business, engineering, computer science, data science, or related field.
• 8+ years of AI engineering experience with strong track record in product strategy, roadmap development, and delivery for complex digital, data, or AI-enabled products.
• Experience translating business needs into scalable AI/product solutions and partnering with technical teams to bring innovative products to market.
• Strong cross-functional leadership across Engineering, Innovation, Design, Data Science, Commercial, and other teams to drive alignment and execution.
• Experience coaching product managers or junior leaders, including prioritization support and fostering product management practices.
• Excellent strategic, analytical, and communication skills to evaluate opportunities and communicate vision and priorities to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and continuous improvement of AI foundations to enable use cases.
• Define and implement scalable agentic AI foundational system, engineering standards, and development practices.
• Partner with product, data, infrastructure, security, and business teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise needs.
• Oversee engineering teams in building reusable platform services, tools, and components for agentic AI products and workflows.
• Drive modernization and integration to connect existing systems with AI capabilities.
• Monitor operations and user feedback to identify improvements and support continuous optimization.
• Communicate platform priorities, delivery progress, risks, and investment needs to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
