Confidential, a Northern New Jersey-based sales and marketing organization serving a Fortune 500 client base, seeks a Director of Accounts Receivable to lead its corporate receivables strategy and day-to-day operations.

The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, guiding the AR team through invoicing, collections, cash application, and reconciliation while partnering with senior finance to optimize cash flow and drive measurable improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.
• MBA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, corporate accounting, financial operations, credit, or collections, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Hands-on experience managing an AR team with coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, and day-to-day operations.
• Strong cash application, reconciliation, unapplied cash, deductions, and payment discrepancy research experience.
• Experience managing large-scale receivables operations in multi-entity, multi-channel environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains and advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros).
• Experience implementing or optimizing automation within billing, collections, or cash application processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead AR strategy, policy, and best practices across invoicing, collections, cash application, and credit management.
• Oversee a corporate receivables roadmap to support growth, efficiency, and cash flow optimization.
• Partner with senior finance and business leaders to align AR strategies with financial objectives.
• Provide oversight of AR accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and cash application with GAAP compliance.
• Develop, monitor, and report KPIs: aging, DSO, unapplied cash, and cash accuracy.
• Drive process improvements and automation to streamline billing and cash posting.
