Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Director of Accounting Operations to lead AR/AP and driving performance within the Accounting and Payroll team in Seattle, WA. You will oversee billing, collections, vendor management, and ERP initiatives to support growth and governance.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in finance operations, CPA credentials, and a proven ability to build leaders, improve processes, and manage risk in complex project environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
• CPA designation required or CPA eligible with intent to obtain.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting, finance operations, or shared services leadership experience.
• 5+ years as a manager of people leaders with prior large transactional accounting exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations including billing, collections, cash application, subcontract invoicing, vendor management, payments, and P-Card administration.
• Set KPIs and operating rhythms to drive performance and working capital results.
• Translate business requirements into processes, controls, and readiness plans for Accounting Operations.
• Lead issue resolution affecting cash flow, controls, and stakeholder experience.
• Provide ERP implementation leadership and ongoing support (design, testing, training).
• Develop a high-performing management team and assign clear ownership and accountability.
• Build succession plans and capability across transactional accounting functions.
• Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness; partner with external audit.
