Responsibilities

  • Provide daily operational oversight of all assigned programs.
  • Supervise and develop program staff, including coordinating training opportunities.
  • Maintain management of budgets, staffing, service quality, and administrative processes.
  • Oversee person-centered planning and ensure services promote independence, dignity, and community involvement.
  • Cultivate relationships with individuals served, families, partners, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Use data and feedback to monitor program performance and drive quality improvement.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to leadership and funding/regulatory bodies.
  • Travel regionally to visit sites, meet employers, and attend meetings/events.
  • Ensure audit compliance and regulatory standards across programs.
  • Increase visibility as Director of Viability in leadership meetings and organizational projects.

Position:Director - Full Time

Location:Pittsfield, MA

Hours:40 hours per week

Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:30pm; occasional weekends, holidays, and evenings

Summary:

  • The Director provides strategic leadership, oversight, and evaluation of programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those supported through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), as well as individuals accessing services through the Department of Mental Health (DMH). This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services that promote independence, community inclusion, wellness, and meaningful life outcomes. The Director oversees all aspects of program operations, including staff supervision and development, budget management, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and program performance. Working collaboratively with internal teams, families, referral sources, and community stakeholders, the Director ensures services are responsive to participant needs and aligned with organizational goals and best practices. In addition, the Director serves as a key representative of the agency within the community, cultivating relationships with employers, service providers, state agencies, and community partners to expand opportunities and strengthen supports for participants. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and compassionate leader with extensive experience managing community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and other complex support needs. Candidates should possess strong leadership, program management, and relationship-building skills, along with a deep commitment to person-centered practices and community inclusion.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Addiction Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required; specialized coursework in substance use disorders highly preferred.
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams, navigating DDS and DMH systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing innovative programs that improve outcomes for individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily operational oversight of all assigned programs.
  • Supervise, support, and develop program staff, including coordinating training opportunities that enhance professional development and service delivery quality.
  • Maintain management control over program budgets, staffing, service quality, and administrative processes to ensure operational excellence.
  • Oversee person-centered planning and ensure services promote independence, dignity, and meaningful community involvement for all individuals served.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with individuals served, families, community partners, funders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Utilize data and feedback to monitor program performance and implement continuous quality improvement strategies.
  • Prepare and submit timely, accurate reports as required by internal leadership and external funding or regulatory bodies.
  • Travel throughout the region to visit program sites, meet with employers and stakeholders, and attend relevant meetings or events.
  • Ensure audit compliance for all assigned programs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, human rights, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  • Increase visibility as a Director of Viability by attending leadership meetings and contributing to organizational projects.
