Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Directed Energy Test Technician to support the Test and Training Group. Successful candidate will be quality focused with experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing various mechanical and electronic systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and DoD regulations. Candidate must have knowledge of how to read diagrams and blueprints. Candidate must be a team player with the ability to multitask across several projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, modify, and maintain UAS platforms to meet specific target profile requirements
- Serve as a remote pilot in command for UAS target flights during live-fire weapon testing
- Integrate sensors, tracking aids, and telemetry equipment onto various UAS platforms
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to plan, execute, and analyze live-fire test events
- Perform pre-flight inspections, post-flight maintenance, and troubleshooting of UAS hardware and software
- Assemble, integrate, and test mechanical and electrical system components per engineering drawings and procedures
- Fabricate, assemble, install, repair, modify, test, operate, and troubleshoot electrical modules, components, and wire harnesses
- Operate shop-related machinery to include common hand tools, scales, calipers, and micrometers
- Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications
- Work from written and verbal instructions
- Provide support across multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to achieve project objectives
- Maintain detailed records of all troubleshooting, assembly, disassembly, and repair procedures
- Generate delivery-quality documentation to document best practices and procedures
- Execute responsibilities in both laboratory and field environments
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify Group 1-3 UAS platforms to serve as dynamic targets for high-energy laser (HEL) and high-power microwave (HPM) open-air/live-fire tests
- Integrate specialized target instrumentation onto UAS platforms, including thermal sensors, laser power meters, and telemetry tracking gear
- Deploy, align, and maintain high-energy laser or high-power microwave test equipment/instrumentation
- Install, align, and calibrate diagnostic optics, sensors, and beam profiling equipment
- Draft formal Test Incident Reports (TIRs) to document hardware or software failures
- Check test hardware and software to ensure data are correct
- Write detailed test reports and share results with engineers
- Follow strict safety rules for high-power lasers and high-voltage systems
- Test and perform fault isolation of components
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot field-deployable power management and cooling units
- Connect directed energy weapon prototypes to Army command and control networks (FAAD C2) for tracking verification
- Travel 25% for extended duration as assigned
- Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance
- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on technical maintenance or field service experience
- Education: High school diploma required; Associate degree or trade certification in a technical field preferred
- Proficiency in soldering, crimping, splicing, cable fabrication, and control panel building
- Ability to perform and/or assist in all activities, including the use of hand and power tools, lifting heavy objects, and working with industrial chemicals and adhesives such as epoxy, glues, paints, and cleaners
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and working from elevated surface on a regular basis
- Ability to work in office and outside environment
- Ability to adapt to dynamic and frequently changing customer requirements
- Ability to work independently to achieve project objectives by deadline
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Formal Cable assembly training with certification
- Experience populating and soldering components on circuit boards
- Experience with welding
- Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- Quality inspection experience
- Familiarity with military test ranges or directed energy/kinetic weapon testing environments
- Some experience with networks (Cisco, Ubiquiti, Netgear)
- Experience/specialization in avionics
