Job summary

Radiance Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to support the Test and Training Group and oversee the development and operation of UAS live targets for DE and kinetic weapon testing.

You will bridge engineering and flight operations, designing, building, and piloting platforms used in high-energy laser and HPM live-fire tests. Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance.
  • 2+ years of hands-on technical maintenance or field service experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to work in office and outside environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, modify, and maintain UAS platforms to meet target profiles.
  • Remote pilot in command for UAS target flights during live-fire testing.
  • Integrate sensors, telemetry, and tracking equipment on UAS platforms.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze live-fire test events with engineering teams.
  • Perform pre- and post-flight inspections and troubleshoot UAS hardware/software.
  • Maintain flight logs, maintenance records, and build documentation.

Job description

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Aerospace Engineer to support the Test and Training Group to support the US Army’s next-generation weapon testing programs. Successful candidate will bridge the gap between engineering and flight operations. Candidate will design, build, and pilot Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) used as live targets. These targets will directly test and evaluate Directed Energy (DE) and Kinetic Weapon Systems. This position offers hands-on engineering experience coupled with real-world flight operations in a dynamic defense environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, modify, and maintain UAS platforms to meet specific target profile requirements
  • Serve as a remote pilot in command for UAS target flights during live-fire weapon testing
  • Integrate sensors, tracking aids, and telemetry equipment onto various UAS platforms
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to plan, execute, and analyze live-fire test events
  • Perform pre-flight inspections, post-flight maintenance, and troubleshooting of UAS hardware and software
  • Maintain detailed flight logs, maintenance records, and technical build documentation
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, repair, modify, test, operate, and troubleshoot electrical modules, components, and wire harnesses
  • Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications
  • Work from written and verbal instructions
  • Provide support across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to achieve project objectives
  • Maintain detailed records of all troubleshooting, assembly, disassembly, and repair procedures
  • Generate delivery-quality documentation to document best practices and procedures
  • Execute responsibilities in both laboratory and field environments
  • Fabricate, assemble, and modify Group 1-3 UAS platforms to serve as dynamic targets for high-energy laser (HEL) and high-power microwave (HPM) open-air/live-fire tests
  • Check test hardware and software to ensure data are correct
  • Write detailed test reports and share results with engineers
  • Travel 25% for extended duration as assigned
  • Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on technical maintenance or field service experience
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • Ability to work in office and outside environment
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic and frequently changing customer requirements
  • Ability to work independently to achieve project objectives by deadline
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with industry standard operating systems and CAD applications to include SolidWorks or similar 3D printing experience
  • Some programming experience with MATLAB, C#, C++, or Python
Desired Qualifications
  • Active DoW Secret security clearance
  • Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Experience with flight controllers, ground control software, and UAS flight operations
  • Familiarity with military test ranges or directed energy/kinetic weapon testing environments
