Job summary

ICL in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care in a residential setting for adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Under supervision, you will assist with daily living activities, health support, and skill-building to promote independence.

The role requires education credentials listed, AMAP/SCIP-R/CPR certifications within six months, and a valid NY driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Direct Support Professional Certificate required or obtainable within six months of hire.
• Experience with adults with developmental/physical disabilities preferred.
• AMAP, SCIP-R and CPR/First Aid certifications required or obtainable within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and health support, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, medication administration (per AMAP).
• Support nutrition and mealtime activities, including meal preparation, safe food handling, and social dining skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized residential environment, including housekeeping and fire safety.
• Promote independence and community integration through skill-building, recreation, employment supports, and transportation.
• Encourage positive interpersonal relationships, communication, money management, and leisure activities.
• Observe, document, and report progress; participate in planning, team meetings, and staff training.
• Apply approved behavior management techniques and respond to emergencies.
