Job summary

Ability Beyond in Ridgefield, CT is seeking a Direct Support Floater to assist adults with intellectual, developmental, physical, and behavioral health needs in residential and community settings.

You will help build life skills, provide daily living support, transportation, and participation in community activities, while documenting progress and collaborating with a clinical team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year previous experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to learn; paid training is provided
• Compassionate, dependable, and motivated to support others

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities
• Implement behavioral support strategies and de-escalation techniques when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities
