Job summary

Ability Beyond in Connecticut is seeking a Direct Support Floater to assist adults with intellectual, developmental, physical, and behavioral health needs across residential and community settings.

You will help individuals build life skills, maintain independence, and participate in daily activities while collaborating with a compassionate team. The role requires at least 1 year of experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license; paid training is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year previous experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to learn; paid training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities such as fitness, crafts, Special Olympics, and community events
• Implement behavioral support strategies and use de escalation techniques when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members to provide well rounded care
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities
