Job summary

St. Joseph’s Villa is seeking Full-Time Direct Support Professionals to join our Day Support Program in Richmond, VA. Under supervision, you will provide direct care in various settings, supporting individuals with behavioral and developmental needs and administering medications after training.

Responsibilities include supervising clients, implementing plans, promoting community involvement, and maintaining documentation. Must have HS, prefer BS, and hold a VA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• HS required; BS/BA degree preferred.
• Experience with the target population.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment.
• Proficient with Windows, Outlook, and MS Word.
• Experience with proprietary software preferred.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sight and sound supervision of clients.
• Implements ISP goals and annual plan objectives.
• Provide encouragement and motivation to individuals.
• Supports in implementing the individual program plan for supports and behavior activities.
• Provide opportunities for community involvement for individuals.
• Implements independent daily activities for clients.
• Provides education to clients to enhance social, community, and life skills.
• Administers medications in accordance with program procedures and after training.
• Manages behaviors and maintains discipline per program procedures.
• Uses approved behavior management techniques to work with clients in crisis.
• Assists clients with personal care and hygiene including feeding, toileting, bathing.
• Maintains documentation regarding clients as required.
• Transports clients to activities in the community after vehicle training.
• Promotes good community relations and represents St. Joseph’s Villa positively.
• Participates in staff meetings.
• May perform similar work within a home setting.
• Completes Direct Support Professional competencies upon hire and maintains afterward.
• Evaluates work processes and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
• Attends scheduled trainings for professional development as required.
