Job summary

Village Behavioral Health (VBH) is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to support adults with ID/DD in our residential programs across Virginia. You will provide hands-on, person-centered care, assist with daily living tasks, and help residents build independence and life skills.

We offer shifts including 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, with full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities. Starting wage is $17/hour+ based on experience, plus performance bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Experience in ID/DD, behavioral health, or human services preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to pass background checks and screenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, person-centered support (daily living skills, hygiene, meals, medication routines).
• Teach independence and life skills; support community activities and appointments.
• Promote a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
• Monitor health and behavioral changes and report concerns.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation.

Village Behavioral Health (VBH) is looking for compassionate, reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) in our residential programs.

Locations

We are currently hiring to support our homes in:

• North Chesterfield
• Richmond
• Highland Springs
• Henrico

Schedule & Availability

• Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Full-time, part-time, and PRN (as-needed) positions available
• Full-time staff required to work every other weekend (12-hour shifts)
• Rotating weekend schedule

Compensation

• Starting at $17/hour+, based on experience
• Performance bonuses available

What You’ll Do

As a DSP, you will provide hands-on, person-centered support, including:

• Supporting daily living skills (hygiene, meals, housekeeping, medication routines)
• Teaching independence, communication, and life skills
• Assisting with community activities (shopping, events, appointments, recreation)
• Promoting a safe, structured, and supportive environment
• Monitoring health and behavioral changes and reporting concerns
• Completing accurate, timely documentation

What We’re Looking For
