Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. In this role, you will provide exceptional one-on-one assistance to clients in the comfort of their own home while ensuring their safety and well-being to promote a vibrant quality of life. Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, bathing and mobility assistance
- Monitor residents health by observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly
- Assist with medication administration and ensure compliance with care plans tailored to each client's needs
- Address occupational and speech therapy goals effectively
- Participate with individuals in the community not limited to social and recreational activities
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and care plans
- Awareness of ABA best practices and techniques such as positive reinforcement
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption to meet individual dietary needs
- Maintain a clean, safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation of living spaces
Requirements
- Prior Direct Support Professional experience and functional engagement with individuals that have Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. (In-home, Live-in, hospice care, or long-term care settings highly preferred)
- Experience with medication administration, seizure protocol, CPR certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper manual handling techniques; physical stamina for long shifts necessary
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and adapt to changing needs of residents
- Valid driver’s license for client transportation assistance preferred
