Job summary

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times, including maintaining house rules, facilitating fire safety training, and escalating signs of harm.
  • Support individuals in various settings according to their personalized plans, using appropriate skills for those with moderate to complex needs.
  • Ensure health, safety, and wellness by providing supervision and managing crises per policies and regulations.
  • Implement protective oversight and behavior support plans (IBSPs/IPPs).
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols.
  • Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and interests, uphold rights, and build positive relationships.
  • Support personal goals, promote respectful communication, and facilitate community activities.
  • Implement person-centered plans, assisting with personal care, ADLs, medication, skill development, advocacy, communication, dispute resolution, and ethical decision-making.
  • Support meal planning, transportation, shopping, and safeguarding funds.
  • Complete required training, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Use therapeutic methods like Person Centered Thinking and Trauma-Informed Approaches.
  • Participate in team meetings, provide feedback, and communicate needs effectively.
  • Under supervision, participate in developing treatment plans, support clinical needs, and collect behavior data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma, valid driver’s license (may be required), and ability to obtain RBT certification within one year. Basic communication and computer skills, interpersonal skills, and physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting and assisting individuals.

For California: at least six months of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, completed DSP training, CPR/First Aid, Ukeru, CPI certifications, and ongoing CEUs.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field, knowledge of I/DD and behavioral health, and a valid driver’s license preferred.
