Job summary

New Purpose is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings.

You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and help clients achieve personal goals while maintaining dignity, safety, and choice. Training is provided and no experience is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass required background screenings and training requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with mobility needs as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities and personal care
  • Support personal goals, independence, and life skill development
  • Encourage participation in community and social activities
  • Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support
  • Help with meals, housekeeping, and maintaining a safe environment
  • Support medication routines and healthcare appointments as directed
  • Complete daily documentation and follow support plans
  • Protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of those served while following agency policies

Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role assists individuals with daily living activities, personal care needs, community engagement, and skill development while promoting independence, dignity, safety, and choice.

  • Providing transportation and support during activities
  • Celebrating accomplishments and milestones
  • Completing documentation and communicating important updates
