Devereux is seeking a Direct Support Professional for a casual pool in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The role supports individuals in residential/group home settings, following health and safety protocols and ISP guidelines.

You will communicate with families and professionals and supervise daily activities. This entry-level position requires a GED/HS diploma; a driver’s license with a clean five-year record is required.

Position: Direct Support Professional- Casual Pool

Rate: $18/hour

Schedule: Casual employees are to be available to work a minimum of 25 hours per month (either 8 hour or 12.5-hour shifts)

Location: Greater Pittsburgh Area

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an entry level role in the residential, group home, setting. This position is primarily responsible for following all health and safety protocols outlined in each individual’s ISP. This is done by adhering to the policies and practices of the department which follow state regulations. Clear and thorough, consistent communication / follow-up with all team members, including but not limited to family, medical professionals, supports coordinators, behavior consultants, and other TCV staff and supervisors is required.

In accordance with the casual agreement, casual employees are to be available to work a minimum of 25 hours per month (either 8 hour or 12.5-hour shifts) .

Essential Professional Skills:

• Relationship Builder – Staff are constantly engaging and interacting with individuals in a positive manner, regardless of individualss’ behaviors.
• Safety – Staff provide and ensure a safe environment, constantly supervise individuals, follow program rules and routines, and report and document all safety related incidents.
• Environmental Manager – Staff ensure the environment is clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing.
• Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Skills – Staff teach and assist individuals in ADLs such as room cleaning, chores, laundry, personal hygiene.
• Family Engagement and Driven Care – Demonstrates commitment to family engagement and individuals driven care principles.
• Shifts – After specific training, staff supervise designated shifts and ensure all activities are planned and executed in the appropriate manner. Staff ensure appropriate notifications are made and that all relevant shift documentation is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
• Other duties as required – this may include; assisting clinicians by reviewing service notes for quality, conducting observations and providing feedback for required trainings (ex. Essential Skills), being a mentor, etc.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• GED or High School diploma.
• Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders.
• Driver’s license is required with five years clean driving history

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly works with individuals with unpredictable behavior. Requires walking, and standing throughout the workday and occasionally requires sitting. Frequently requires stooping, bending, kneeling. Occasionally requires running and lifting weights up to 50 lbs. Requires vision and physical ability to regularly operate vehicles. Regularly accompanies individuals on off-site activities and appointments. Requires physical ability to successfully perform CPR, First Aid procedures, and Behavior Management physical intervention. Significant and frequent use of verbal and written communication. Must be free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances.
