Job summary

Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment (HAVE) in LaPlata, MD is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our team.

You will provide direct care in residential settings, assist with ADLs, implement ISPs, and support community integration while promoting independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in direct support or caregiving preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Pass a background check and drug screening.
• Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible shifts incl. evenings, weekends, or overnights.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
• Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
• Facilitate community integration activities and promote client independence
• Administer medications and monitor health needs in accordance with care plans
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Respond to behavioral support needs using approved techniques and protocols

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnights
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
