Job summary

Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment (HAVE) is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional for weekend shifts in Gaithersburg, MD. The role spans Saturdays and Sundays, 8 AM to 8 PM, supporting individuals with disabilities in a residential setting.

You will provide direct care, assist with daily living activities, document progress, and help with community integration while ensuring safety and a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, empathetic demeanor.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Must pass background check and Maryland DSP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with IDs.
• Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, meals, and mobility.
• Implement individualized support plans and document progress.
• Facilitate community integration and weekend activities.
• Administer medications and monitor health needs as per care plans.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Assist clients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
• Implement individualized support plans and document progress accurately
• Facilitate community integration and recreational activities during weekend shifts
• Administer medications and monitor health needs in accordance with care plans
• Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for all residents
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and family members regarding client well-being

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday, 8 AM – 8 PM)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, empathetic demeanor
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Must pass background check and meet state DSP requirements in Maryland
